Faux Turban Cancer Cap

I used a Red Heart Soft, worsted weight yarn and an H sized hook. The Cap is a Small/Medium, when using only the Rounds listed.

Crown of Hat:
Ch 4, connect to form ring.
Round 1: Ch 2 (serves as 1st Dc throughout) Work 14 Dc into ring. Connect to top of 1st Dc to hide beg ch.Round 2: Ch 2. Dc into same st as Ch. Work 2 Dc into each st of round. Connect to top of 1st Dc to hide beg ch.
Round 3: Ch 2. Dc into same st as Ch. *1 Dc into next 2 sts. 2 Dc in next st. Repeat from * around circle.
Connect to top of 1st Dc to hide beg ch.
Round 4: Ch 2. Dc into same st as Ch. *1 Dc into next 3 sts. 2 Dc in next st. Repeat from * around circle. Connect to top of 1st Dc to hide beg ch.
Round 5: Ch 2. Dc into same st as Ch. *1 Dc into next 4 sts. 2 Dc in next st. Repeat from * around circle. Connect to top of 1st Dc to hide beg ch.
Round 6: Ch 2. Dc into same st as Ch. *1 Dc into next 5 sts. 2 Dc in next st. Repeat from * around circle. Connect to top of 1st Dc to hide beg ch.
Round 7: Ch 2. Dc into same st as Ch. *1 Dc into next 6 sts. 2 Dc in next st. Repeat from * around circle.
Connect to top of 1st Dc to hide beg ch.
Add or subtract rows at this point to create the Width of the hat. Use a tape measure to get the circumference of the head. Divide that measurement by 3 (or more accurately Pi), and that should give you the approximate diameter needed for the Crown of the hat. The diameter is measured from side to side of the hat, across the middle.

Sides of the Hat:
Round 8-13 (+ or - to extend hat to bottom of ear): Ch 2. Dc into same st as Ch. *1 Dc into each st around circle. Connect to top of 1st Dc to hide beg ch.
When hat is long enough, end off and weave threads.

Turban Band:
Count the number of stitches around the Edge of Hat. Divide that by 2, and make that many chs. (1 Turban Tail started.)
Attach this ch to any st on hat, leaving the Turban Tail loose and flopping. This will be the front of the hat. (I prefer to put the beg ch of the hat in the back, or directly across from where you attach the Turban band.)

Row 1: Once Turban Tail is attached to hat, ignore the tail for now, and work 1 Sc into each st of the hat, back around to the front. Make the same number of Chs as other Turban Tail, plus 3 more.
In 3rd ch from hk, Work 1 Dc. Dc into each Ch of this tail. Work 1 Dc into ea Sc of hat. Work 1 Dc into each ch of other Turban Tail. (TIP: I prefer to use the loop on the Backside of the Ch to insert the hook to start the Dc. This will make the Bottom of the Turban Tail look exactly like the Top of the Turban Tail.)**
Row 2-3: Ch 3, Turn. Work 1 Dc into each st of this Turban Tail. Work 1 Dc into each st of hat. Work 1 Dc into ea st of other Turban Tail.
When completed Row 3 of Turban Tail, Ch 1, turn 90 degrees so that you are working on the END of the Turban Tail. Work 3 Sc around the post of the Dc you just completed. Ch 3, Sk the Post of the Dc in Row 2. Work 3 Sc around the post of the Dc on Row 1. (Button Loop completed.) End off and weave threads.
Sew a button on the end of the other tail.
Fold the Turban Band up. (Last 3 Rows of Dc on the rim of the hat). Cross the 2 Turban Tails and secure them in the back of the hat with the Button and Loop.
